Five friends, months free

Referrals.com's own launch campaign, "Get on board with our 5 for 5", gave members free months of the product for bringing in new sign-ups. It still runs today.

The offer

Free months of Referrals.com when five friends sign up.

How it worked

  1. 1

A clear goal: five sign-ups unlocked the reward, shown as "5 for 5".

  2. 2

The reward was the product itself, months free, which cost little to give.

  3. 3

Every new member automatically gets a personal referral link, so the program grows with the user base.

  4. 4

Smaller campaigns ran alongside: a closed beta waitlist (259 people) and two months free for beta members.

What the numbers show

  • 3,031 of 4,712 participants came through someone else's link, so the program mostly grew itself.
  • A named goal with a reward worth reaching gave members a reason to share more than once.
  • Shares far outnumbered sign-ups (9,129 shares), which shows members actively passing links on.
